A missing car key is stressful, but there are usually several paths forward, and you often don't need the dealer at all.
Check these things first
Search coat pockets, bags and trousers systematically, including yesterday's clothes. Check the usual spots at home: kitchen drawer, coat hook, bedside table. Call the last place you visited to ask if a key was handed in. Also check your insurance: some all-risk policies cover part of the replacement cost.
What if the key is really gone?
If searching turns up nothing, there are two scenarios. You still have a spare key: you can keep driving and immediately have a copy made before losing that one too. You have no key at all: this is called 'all-keys-lost'. Your car no longer recognises any key. In that case we read the immobiliser data from your vehicle and program a brand-new set of keys on the spot, no towing required.
